Being a child from a mixed marriage, Funkstar has allways been influenced by a great variety of music styles. At age 5 he was sure he wanted to be a conductor for a classical Orchestra and picked up the violin. After a few years of fiddlin’ he decided this wasn’t his instrument and started taking drum lessons. Funk being his favorite genre to bang the drums to, he chose the name Funkstar as his alter ego, even before he was a DJ.

In school he discovered his talent for the decks on schoolparties. He loved entertaining people and he loved collecting music and this was where these two ambitions came together. But it wasn’t untill his early twenties when he decided to take up Deejaying more seriously. This happened when he moved to the big city when he started his Architecture studies. Here he was influenced by famous deejays like Chuckie and Real El Canario, and this inspired him to work hard.

Since then he has been on top of the Dutch Urban scene, played at the biggest parties and shared the stage with international Artists like T-Pain, Rick Ross, Juelz Santana and even went on tour with rap-superstar Lil’ Wayne. But being in this scene for a while, he noticed his ambitions were bigger than just being inside this box, so he started to move towards other musical styles such as House, Electro and more. Nowadays his hip hop roots driven house sound already brought him across the border to countries such as Turkey, Greece, Croatia, Sweden, Germany, Norway, Spain and Belgium.

So who knows what will be next?!
